One of the few rack railways operating in Spain, the Núria
Valley Rack Railway represents one of the only ways to access the
Núria Valley besides boats and hiking. As such, it offers an
opportunity to appreciate the serene beauty of the valley and its
lake, without the buzz and contamination of traffic. The
magnificent scenery is on full show here, with the water reflecting
the greens and browns of the forests which cover the sloping
mountainside.
With sheer valley walls, dotted by pine trees on quarry
stone, the Nùria Valley is a place of incomparable charm. One of
the few ways to actually access this hidden paradise is by the
popular Nùria Valley Rack Railway. Climbing over 1,000 metres
through the Pyrenees, this rack railway offers awesome views across
the chasms and rivers which run through this Spanish-French
mountain range. Closed to traffic, the valley itself is an oasis of
calm, populated only by the train and boats.
